Golden grasses sway in the breeze, soap weed plants offer up their proud flower spikes and seed pods, cattle low gently, deer and antelope graze on tender grasses and hide in the trees, birds sing and clouds scud across the skies in the beautiful area of Nebraska known as the "Sandhills." This is where Dawn E. Bryant travels with her camera, capturing the essence of this wild and beautiful landscape. She looks for spectacular sunsets, breathtaking sunrises, sun glinting off the vanes of a windmill, geese taking a break by the river, or a buck peering out from behind a cedar tree. Bryant, a local Sandhills photographer, does 35 mm and digital photos of the Cherry, Thomas, and Logan counties and the Merritt Reservoir areas. Her artistry also includes pastels, colored pencil, and mixed media. Bryant's photos and artwork have won numerous local and state awards. Bryant serves as a news reporter for the Thedford Art Guild, is a member of the Sandhills Painters, the Arrow Artists, and the North Platte Art Guild.
