Larry Anderson resides in Des Moines. He is an active conservationist whose illustrations have been carried in a number of outdoor publications. As a boy growing up in Iowa, Larry spent a great deal of time outdoors with his father. His continuing love and enthusiasm for the world of nature is deftly expressed in his work. Mallards are the most common North American waterfowl species, although their numbers have steadily declines due to habitat loss. On their fall migration mallard eat unharvested grain. While tractor styles and buildings change with the rapid shifts of society, the annual migration of mallards and other birds reminds us of the constancy of nature's rhythms.
