Long Soldier Indians In Winter
In "Coming Home", Long Soldier portrays "the sense of security and contentment that the man and woman experience as they catch sight of their tepee." Several Plains native peoples lived the greater part of the year in earth lodges, but all of them dwelt in the familiar tepees as they followed the ever migrating buffalo. These dwellings remained fairly comfortable in the winter and summer, yet, given the severity of the climate, the survival of the Plains peoples was truly remarkable.
This card was designed by Daniel Long Soldier. Daniel shares the beliefs and hopes of his Oglala Lakota Sioux people. He portrays this heritage in his art.
