Back 40 Mallards Mallards are the most common North American waterfowl species, although their numbers have steadily declined due to habitat loss. On their fall migration mallards eat unharvested grain. While tractor styles and buildings change with the rapid shifts of society, the annual migration of mallards and other birds reminds us of the constancy of nature's rhythms.

This card was created by artist Larry Anderson. He is an active conservationist whose illustrations have been carried in a number of outdoor publications.
