Cornhusk Dolls
Cornhusk dolls are one of the oldest forms of dolls known in the Americas. They originated with the Native American Indians who in turn taught the pioneers how to make them. Native American Indians have a legend about the "Faceless Cornhusk Doll". The legend tells of the first cornhusk doll that became too vain. The doll's face was so beautiful that she spent all of her time gazing at her reflection in a clear pond. The Great Spirit punished the doll for her vanity by taking her face away forever.
Hand made in Nebraska from natural cornhusks in the tradition of the "Faceless Cornhusk Doll”. They measure about 6 1/2” tall and due to the nature of the cornhusks, each doll is a little different and unique. Each doll comes with an enclosure card which tells the legend of the "Faceless Cornhusk Doll” and will be shipped in a attractive gift box which is tied with a satin ribbon ready for gift giving. Available are standing dolls holding baskets of blue, pink or yellow flowers or a sitting doll with her quilting. These dolls are wonderful for gift giving or collecting.
